Everything Is Coming Together....

Today has been a very successful day, even though it started at 4:30 this morning ( we are still experiencing jet lag, but it's getting better).  While I stayed at the hotel with the kids, Josh went to housing to try and get us a house. We new of two houses we liked and really didn't care which one we got.  We had heard alot of horror stories with the housing people, so we didn't know how they would react to us requesting a house.  Josh was gone for about an hour. When he returned, he walked in and said " We got it".  The kids & I were SO excited.....we actually got one of the houses we requested!!  What is great about the house is it is in a wonderful neighborhood with 4 families that I have met through facebook.  There is a playground right behind the house and there are TONS of kids for our children to play with. It's one of the smallest houses we have lived in since having all four of our kids, but it is managable and will do for 2 years.  Plus, three of the families I know will also be going to church with us. I love that because our children will see the same group of kids in their neighborhood, at church, some at school ( some of them are homeschooled), and in other activities they do.  It will give them a great core of friends to hang out with. That was one thing they really missed last year living in VA and it is one of the positives about living on post ( for those that don't know, we are on an Army post here). GOD IS SO GOOD!!!  They gave us two other options, but they were not in Blackhawk Village, so we didn't even want to look at them.

Ethan & Rachel were exhausted, I think they finally woke up around ten...

We also had our first experience with Korean food!  Josh and I loved it...I even ate kimchi :). The kids, well, the jury is still out on that one.  We were very proud of Ethan and Rachel because they tried almost everything.  Caleb & Michael, not so much.  The only thing those two would eat was the pork.

I was amazed at how much food they brought us!  All the little white dishes are the sides that come with your meat.

Ethan and Rachel trying out Korean food for the first time....they were much better using the chopsticks than I was :(

A co-worker of Josh's who took us out to eat gave the kids lessons on how to use their chopsticks...

I don't know what this was, some kind of pork, but it was SOOOOO good! Plus, they cook it right in front of you.

Our server LOVED our kids. She cut would come by and try to get the little ones to eat their food. She even cut their food up for them. However by this time, Michael was not feeling well.  She brought him some water, kept patting him on the head, and brought him a blanket to wrap up in. She also loved Ray Ray, who can blame her ;).

We are now back at the hotel because Michael is running a fever and not feeling too well. Hopefully he will be better by tomorrow.

Until Next Time,
Michelle

  1. Love that you guys are getting to experience another culture. So proud of your kids for trying new things. I think that's one of the blessings of the military life; being thrown into these new situations. It broadens your horizons.

  2. They were VERY hesitant at first, but we finally talked them into it. Caleb and Michael didn't want to have anything to do with it, except for the pork.....lol. We are really enjoying it so far. This is the first time we have ever lived overseas, so we are going to embrace it as much as we can!

  3. Michelle,

You are such an inspiration! Jim and I are facing another move(hopefully this month) We don't know where we will be moving to yet and the stress of not knowing all the answers can eventually wear you out. Thank you for sharing how God is blessing your family. THe thought of moving to Korea would terify me but your testimony of God's goodness and how He has placed you in the right place, with the right people strengthens my faith. I pray God's favor over you Josh and the kids. Love you!
