Our First Korean Baseball Game...GO BEARS!!!

When we first arrived in Korea a sweet friend we met gave us a bucket list of things to do while we were stationed in Seoul.  I'm so grateful for the list, there is SO much to do here that it can be overwhelming at times, so having the list has been great!!  Over the past year, we have marked quite a lot of things off, but one of the things we hadn't done yet and really wanted to do was go to a Korean baseball game!!  We had heard they were tons of fun to go to, so since Josh had the day off on Friday we decided to give it a try! We also asked some friends to come along with us...the more the merrier right?

As soon as we stepped out of the subway we were greeted with lots of vendors. One of the stands was  selling these hand clapper things that the fans use as noise makers during the game... ( they probably have a real name, but I have no idea what they are called...lol).  The first thing we noticed is how cheap everything is at the game.  In the States, these would probably cost at least $10.00 if not more...here they were 2,000KRW, which is about $1.50 for the pair!!!

Group shot before we headed into the game....

We had heard that you could bring your own food to the game, but we decided to chance it and see what the vendors had once we got there.  Of course there was the traditional Korean food & snacks, but there was also a Burger King and KFC :).  We fed our entire family of 6, drinks included, for 20,000 won ($18.00)...did I mention things were really cheap here!

Since this was our first time here, getting the tickets was a little confusing.  It took us three tries before we got in the correct line...lol.  We ended up with really great seats though for 10,000 KWR (about $8.50).  Here's a view from where we sat.

By the time we had finished figuring out how to get our tickets the game had already begun. As we walked in the stadium the energy was crazy!!!  Korean fans are some of the most enthusiastic fans I have ever seen or heard.  They have special cheers and chants for every player that comes up to bat and they sing the entire game!! The only time I saw them sit down was when it was the opposing teams time to hit, but then the opposing teams fans were up singing and cheering.  It is something you just have to see!  Honestly, one of the best sporting events I have been to in a while! Oh, did I mention, they have cheerleaders at the game too??  I tried uploading video, but for some reason it won't post.  If you are my Facebook friend, you can check it out on my timeline :)

Life is always better when shared with friends....so happy to have the Hammond's & Hill's come with us!

The clappers were a big hit....

Around the 5th inning the kids were all thirsty, so Trish and I headed downstairs to the food court to get some delicious smoothies!

We decided to leave around the 7th inning to beat the crowds to the subway, plus by this time our kids were worn out! Overall, it was a GREAT night, full of fun & laughter.  If you are in Seoul and haven't been to a game yet, I highly recommended it.  Such a fun time!!

Until Next Time,
Michelle
