What's a Mom to do?

What's a mom to do when she tells her three year old repeatedly to go take a nap.  Then, when she finally thinks he is asleep she remembers she needs to go upstairs to get something.  When she turns the corner, this is what she finds...what to do, what to do...lol

Family Night....Mars Needs Mom!!

Last week I won 6 tickets to see the Washington Nationals play their last baseball game.  We were suppose  to go last night, but it ended up raining so we had a change of plans.  We decided to watch a movie, eat popcorn and drink coke (which is a rarity in this house) !! So we spread a blanket out on the floor and rented the movie " Mars Needs Mom"....it was super cute and we all had a wonderful night together!!
I LOVE MY FAMILY!!!!

Caught Caleb taking a taste test...

Caleb:  Mommy this smells SO good, I can't take it!

Butter and Cheese Popcorn ....and COKE!

The kids were so excited :)

Let the fun begin....they loved the movie!!

Mommies Little Helper...

It's amazing to me that we can have four children with four completely different personalities!!!  Well, we finally have one that really, really loves to clean...Michael!!  He loves to stay by my side and wants to help me do everything, so I've started giving him little chores to do and he is in heaven!!!  A couple of his "chores" are emptying the dishwasher, helping put his clothes up, putting the clothes into the dryer, etc.  One of his most favorite things to do is fold washcloths.  At first I didn't think he could do it ( he had just turned three), but I was wrong.  I showed him one time how to do it and off he went.  Now he begs to fold up washcloths.....I've NEVER had a child beg to help do any time of cleaning. But the ironic thing is, he is also our messiest kid ...lol !!!

Sweet Times...

One of the blessings we have this year living in VA is that my parents are only 3.5 hrs away from us!!!  We haven't been close to family in a while, so its nice when they can come up to spend the day with us and that is exactly what my mom & dad did this weekend.  They got here around 9:30 and we hung out at the house for a while.  Then we decided to take them to Burke Lake Park.  This has become one of our families favorite places to go on a beautiful day.  There is so much to do.....fishing, train rides, playground, putt-putt, golf, carousel, and an ice cream shop to name a few.  Plus it is only a couple of minutes from the house.  Today the kids wanted to ride the train and eat some ice cream.  It was such a relaxing time!!!

Train ride at the park....

Enjoying some ice cream :)

I thought it was funny that my dad and Josh matched ( not on purpose)...lol

Afterwards, we came back home and the little ones went down for a nap.  Then my mom, Rachel, and myself went shopping!!!!!!  I was very excited because when we first moved here my mom found out about a shopping center that is 8 miles away called Potomac Mills, so we decided to check it out......it is AMAZING!!!!  SO many places to shop and eat, plus lots of outlet stores.  Not to mention the fact they have an IKEA and I finally got to go to one.  I have to say I was very impressed.....overwhelmed, but impressed.  They had lots of nice things for your house at GREAT prices...plus right now kids eat free when you go!  Anyway, we found some really good deal on some things I needed for the house and some school clothes for the kids.

By the time we got home it was time for my parents to head back to NC.  The kids were really sad....they really enjoy spending time with their grandparents.  Thankfully, we will get to see them alot this year!!!

Summertime Fun....

For the past couple of days the weather has been perfect here!  Today the boys decided to go out and play in the water.  Ethan and Michael were so cute playing firefighter and Caleb LOVED the sprinkler!! Where was Rachel, asleep of course....she's our late sleeper and was very upset that she missed out on all the fun.  Pretty sure tomorrow she will be waking up before 11:00!!

Ethan showing Michael how to work the hose...

Getting it all pumped up...

Caleb LOVED jumping in the sprinkler ( love the expressions on his face <3) ...
